The colored pencils, scissors, glue sticks and other materials that have been selected will assist in making math fun as students transition into high school. We'll need to do some classroom reorganizing, but that's a life skill I'm sure we all can use. We will use the simple things we did when we were younger, to make math simple for them. Coloring and cutting and pasting for algebra? Yes, these things should help them relax, while solving some challenging problems. They may forget how hard it is as they work toward some fun times. I am not trying to create mathematicians, but believers...students who believe they can do things that they've not done well before. The goal is to improve students ability to learn algebra, not pass a test...that will happen organically. I would like to improve the overall success rate in classroom learning!
