If the project is fully funded, I would like to provide students with atypical behaviors the opportunity to engage and explore sensory items to decrease overstimulation, anxiety, stress and behavioral problems associated with sensory issues and autistic characteristics. These students often have difficulties understanding and integrating their senses and simply do not have the resources to calm the sensations associated with autism and sensory issues. After teaching the students how to use the materials, I would like to promote self-advocacy to allow the students to understand that the materials and tools are for their use due to their sensory overloads. My school is 44 percent free and reduced lunch in which some of these students belong. I would like for the students to understand that teachers are listening to their specific needs and want to help and better understand their needs. What a wonderful opportunity the students would be allowed if this project is funded. It will help them tremendously. The materials and tools I would like to be funded include: DNA Stress Ball, Mini Rainmaker, Plastic Concave Balance Board for Children, Magnet Building Blocks, Sensory OT Brushes, Fidget Toys Mix Pack for Kids, Translucent Geometric Shapes, Tools Bundle for Stress Relief and Anti-Anxiety for Kids and Adults, Calming Autism Sensory LED Light, Stepping Stones for Kids, Original Bouncy Bands, Weighted Lap Pad for Kids, Milliard Crash Pad, Therapy Sensory Swing for Kids with Special Needs, Fiber Optic Curtain Light Kit, Soothing Aurora LED Night Light Projector, Big Mo's Toys Liquid Motion Spiral Timer Toy for Sensory Play, Super Z Outlet Liquid Motion Bubbler for Sensory Play, Weighted Washable Snuggle Snake and Fiber Optic Lamp.
