Help me give my students the power to choose. Student choice in learning is powerful. Students learn best when they are able to have a choice in their learning. Flexible seating allows for students to choose where they work and with whom. Flexible seating has been proven to help build a sense of community, encourage movement, and increase the sensory output of students in the classroom. With traditional desks students are often uncomfortable. When students are uncomfortable they are distracted and disruptive. Flexible seating lets students choose a seat that will allow them to work the most effectively. I have a very diverse group of students who have a wide a range of academic skills and achievement levels. Some of my students have disabilities, while others may be high achieving. Every student is different, and has their very own set of needs. With so many seating options each student is able to find seating that will fit their learning needs.
