Some students focus better at a traditional desk, others might need some sort of cushion to be more comfortable, and others a way to remain somewhat active without it being a distraction to other classmates. These materials will allow my students to have alternative seating options in the classroom. With these tools, students' attention and focus can improve and they can, consequently, benefit academically. Flexible seating options can especially benefit my students with special needs and behavior plans. Sitting through a single mini-lesson can be extremely challenging for my students with special needs and behavior plans. They have a hard time remaining focused and attentive during a lesson, leading to their difficulty completing independent work and assessments. With flexible seating options, I could provide them with tools aside from fidgets to aid in their learning. If they feel comfortable in their seat and are able to move to certain degree (eg. bouncing legs), they could remain alert and aware to the instruction that will help them understand the material and complete their assignments.
