Ask any ex-wrestler, they will tell you about their wins and losses, yes, but even more importantly they well tell you about what the sport of wrestling gave them beyond high school and college. Wrestling teaches values that last a lifetime and set the foundation for a rewarding career in athletics, and success in life. Some of these life skills are accountability, resilience, importance of hard work, teamwork/camaraderie, and good listening skills. My desire with this project is to give my student athletes in a St. Louis, MO Title I funded inner city school, new wrestling bags they can be proud of. I am not desiring a program built on wins, but rather one that will develop young men and provide the tools to be successful beyond the four years of high school.
