Hello! This school year I need a little help to prepare my students for the future. I have been told that my 8th-grade students will not get to use graphing calculators because they are in special education classes and not general education. I have to disagree. My students are responsible for learning the same Common Core State Standards as all the other 8th graders. I feel that learning tools should be available to all students, regardless of their eligibility. This is why I am asking for help to purchase a set of 10 graphing calculators for my classroom. All students should have equal opportunities for learning and exposure to math tools as we learn Algebra. It is my job to have them ready for high school, where they will be using graphing calculators in the 9th grade. I would like to teach my students how to use these tools, to ensure they are fully prepared for high school. Additionally, we need headphones. Also, my students come from poverty-stricken homes; my classroom and cafeteria are the only places they get a meal. I teach 8th grade, so these kids are always hungry. Every school year I spend $100 monthly to provide snacks for my students. Each year it gets a little harder to provide this. Will you please help me provide basic needs for my students so they are able to learn without a growling stomach. Thank you for your help.
