After visiting my classroom for the first time and beginning to prepare for the upcoming school year, I knew immediately that I would need to purchase several basic items in order to ensure that we have a fully-functional learning environment when the students return. I am setting this classroom up from scratch, and every contribution will be extremely impactful! Many classrooms today have varied seating options taking the different needs of children into account, as well as a variety of teaching materials and resources to aid instruction. This classroom is starting from the ground up, with just desks and a few empty bookcases to begin with. English Language Arts is a major focus area of instruction in our school, and during independent reading time the students will be able to spread out around the room and comfortably do their reading and assignments with the use of organizers and benches. Additionally, items such as the stools and tabletop dry erase easel will allow me to provide small-group, intensive instruction at a round table to students who need extra support.
