My preschool students are provided with many meaningful play opportunities throughout our day. Through play, my students learn social and communication skills, practice math and literacy skills, and develop problem solving skills. Play is how my students learn best and when provided with meaningful opportunities, they thrive! Since adding additional meaningful play experiences and increasing the amount of time for students to play in our classroom, I have seen a dramatic increase in not only their academic skills, but in their social, communication, and problem solving skills as well. Many of the students in our classroom have developmental delays or are learning English as a second (or third!) language, and providing them with a kitchen set will give them more opportunities to play and engage with their peers allows them practice and develop these skills naturally.
