Help my students start the day by thinking of ways to solve problems. The materials below will help my students learn new ways to think about things and solve problems. They will work together as groups to learn who to solve problems, learn the basics of building things, physics, engineering, communication, sharing, empathy, and rapport. For example, students will take objects from the STEM Early Learning Kits and discover how heavy things are, which towers are more stable, and compare how much things weigh. Using these objects will give my students hands-on experience that many people don't get until high school. Frequently, students who are gifted and talented lose interest in classroom activities because they know the information, they are perfectionists, and/or they become bored. In my classroom, I want to encourage these bright minds to continue to grow in knowledge and team-building skills. In a team, they can learn to use their strengths as an asset to those around them. Different strengths can be helpful, and we can support each other better when we know how to work together.
