Hi everyone! I am pursuing my certification to become a bilingual teacher. I had the pleasure to serve as a permanent substitute last year and I was invited to return as an official teacher! Working as a sub at our school allowed me to see how many things we lack in the classroom. We are in Dallas and are Title One, so we do not have the luxury of a lot of resources, our kids cannot always bring their supplies, but we make the best of it! I believe every kid should have every advantage they can get to pursue an education. And I believe you should appeal to a student in any way your imagination can think of to inspire curiosity and a love for learning and discovering. So, naturally, I use anything and everything to get their attention and get their minds going! I.e. incentives, manipulatives, color, games, art, music... You get the idea. I have a list of a few necessities and ideas for this year. I want to build a listening center where kids can read along as they listen. It is very important for the emerging reader to hear how words are pronounced as well as the flow of speech, timing, tone and pauses.
