In order to meet the changing emotional needs of our students, we are focusing on social-emotional learning by teaching mindfulness, kindness and resilience. We start our day and end our day with sharing circles, do a daily meditation and teach a weekly hour-long lesson on social-emotional learning based on the students’ needs. As a school, we participate in PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) to encourage making positive choices. Your donation will bring books to my classroom library in both Spanish and English that can help bring to life the social emotional lessons through story-telling. This allows students to make better connections to the topics and improves their literacy skills at the same time. Students will also be able to check the books out to practice reading at home as well during independent reading time.
