Individualized learning starts with empowerment. Flexible seating allows learners to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. So far my learners have the opportunity to choose from a variety of work areas in the classroom. These areas include a large rug with lap boards, pillow seats, crate seats and a comfy couch area. When my learners are able to choose where they work, there is less distraction in the classroom. Learners show more motivation and responsibility for their learning when they are able to find a personal space. The bouncy seats will allow me to provide my learners with another effective learning option. They will be especially beneficial to learners who need to rock, bounce and wiggle to enhance focus. I have already seen the amazing outcome of using flexible seating in a personalized learning environment and I hope to continue to enhance the learning process for all my students.
