This year will mark my 13th year teaching... but my first year teaching the primary crew (K-3rd special education) and my first year at a new school in a new state- South Carolina! I am pretty much starting with a clean slate. It is important for me to have a classroom that is engaging, cheerful, and systematic for my students. On average, a teacher spends about $500+ of their own money for their students. There is no doubt that I will still be filling my prize bin, finding something perfect for a lesson, or hosting class parties on my own nickel, but with your help I can make sure that when my students walk into their special education resource classroom at the start of the year that they are in a positive learning environment that has the tools, organization systems, and that certain "comfy" feeling to make them eager and ready to make the 2019-2020 school year a HUGE success! I want them to have a WOW moment! Your donation will allow for a reading nook with a plush carpet, reading chairs, and book displays that entice even the most reluctant reader. It will also add anchor chart displays to have a classroom full of resources of what they are learning. There will be a GROWTH MINDSET wall that encourages my kiddos to think 'I CAN' and not 'I can't.' For those students that need extra focus??? Noise canceling headphones that allow to focus on their task at hand! These are just some of the materials you can help get to build the classroom of THEIR dreams! My years of experience will bring the most important part- a teacher with a vision- but your contribution will help me build a classroom that supports my ambitious growth goals for this year!
