Sensory play allows children to use their senses to learn and recall information. When children use their senses, they explore learning while having fun and being fully involved in the learning process. My plans are to set up a "sensory room" within my classroom. Using the items I have chosen will give my students a variety of learning experiences allowing them to use their senses to increase their sensitivity to their environment and increase their knowledge. Sensory play will allow all my students, regardless of disability, to engage in learning in a safe and fun learning environment. These experiences will allow my students to grow academically while improving social and communication skills.
