Students will have a brand new experience using handbells as a class to play different songs that correspond with our music curriculum. Currently, we have one set, but that doesn't allow the students to experience interval training or the ability to play around with harmony. In fourth grade, our students learn about steps, skips, leaps, and repeats. The melody bells would allow them to hear the different ways in which melody can move. In first grade, students start to learn about Sol and Mi - having extra sets of bells allows them to take turns playing their Sol Mi patterns they create on their own! All students will learn to read cue cards and how to play handbells, giving them one more experience in reading.
