The materials I am requesting will impact the way my students interact in the speech room. We currently have a book case for materials, making every possible toy and game visible to students. This often leads to my kiddos wanting to play with something that may not be an option for them, leading to emotional breakdowns that inhibit our ability to learn new communication skills! A storage cabinet would solve this problem, by hiding materials that may not be an option for that therapy session. A big rug is perfect to create a more homey feel for playing and learning. We enjoy using play to learn in the speech and language therapy room and having functional storage will create an environment that is more conducive to learning. The ultimate goal of my project is to have my students feel comfortable when they walk in as well as have an ideal learning environment, I believe the items I am requesting will help me to accomplish this goal.
