Our extended learning time program supports students to complete homework and learn about STEM and other careers. We also emphasize four twenty-first century skills: communication, collaboration, innovation and problem solving. To get students focused on these skills after a long school day, we need exciting transitional activities that get students energized. African drumming is just the kind of activity that gets students excited about learning and growing. By teaching African drumming we will help students to see the importance of collaboration and problem solving as they discover how to draw different tones from their djembes and as they grow in skills, create a coordinated team performance.

About my class
