Working with students who have special needs comes with daily successes and challenges. In a special education setting, finding engaging and reinforcing tools and activities to encourage student learning requires a wide variety of the materials that can be used across subjects like math, language arts, social-emotional learning, functional life skills, social skills, and play! A goal in my classroom is to have students spend as much time as they can in the general education classroom with their peers. By using the materials I have selected for this project, students can be taught skills in their special education classroom that can translate to the skills they will need to use in a general education setting and functional skills they will need outside of a school setting.
