The materials I have chosen will help students not only love to read but will deepen their knowledge on content we will encounter throughout the year. "Travel" will be the theme in my classroom this year. I want students to understand that reading is everywhere and can be done on ships, planes, trains etc. Imagine my students being able to climb into a "reading boat" with a book about the life cycle of a shark or sea turtle! I want to create a room full of diversity and fun! I have added books that show girls being scientists! Books that showcase characters that look like my students! Books that tell us more about weather and the awesome field trips taken on the Magic School Bus!
