This “Update Project” will allow my students to independently work at stations and on their own goals and expectations. The flexible seating will allow them to move about the room at their pace and comfort. The updated furniture and organizers equip them to have their supplies at their assigned table area. This ease that they will have at their command will allow them to make their own choices and will prepare them in practicing organizational skills. Today’s students are taught in small groups and with the philosophy of individualized learning. The room in which they are learning has to be prepared to meet the same standards. While curriculum and theory are provided to meet their goals, the environment is issued with a set of 5 identical tables with the 30 matching chairs. It’s up to the teacher to provide a new and updated classroom to match the new and individualized content. The renovation is costly, so this is why I have chosen to ask for assistance this year.
