My students have been begging to do clay projects since the beginning of the year. Whenever I mention that we are going to start a new project I get asked "Is it clay?" We have a firing kiln that has never been used because up until this year it wasn't properly set up. I finally talked to the right people and got the kiln to be fully functioning but my classroom is not equipped with the right materials to create ceramics projects. I still need supplies such as clay tools to carve/build, canvas boards (to build projects on), and most importantly the clay in order to provide a fun and educational clay experience for my classes.
For most of my students this is their first introduction to art and I have been introducing them to a variety of art mediums and genres, however this is tough as a first year teacher with very little supplies. Unfortunately clay supplies and materials are outside of my school budget, so I am looking into other sources of funding to be able to provide my students with this opportunity to work with clay. My students are eager to learn about art and learn new materials, for many of them my class is the highlight of their day.
By donating these materials you would help me provide an outlet, a stress relief, and a unique learning experience to a talented group of beginning artists.
