I would love to renovate my classroom from a traditional classroom to one with flexible seating. Right now, I ask my six year olds to sit for several hours a day in hard, school-issued chairs. I would like to be able to provide them with some comfortable options. When a student is comfortable, they are more calm, focused, and engaged in their learning. Having the option to move throughout the day will allow them to focus for longer periods of time. In turn, this will lead to fewer distractions and disruptions in the classroom. These things will all lead to greater academic growth and achievement in my classroom. Magnetic letters and playdough can be used as a manipulative during spelling and letter exploration. What a fun way to practice reading, spelling, and making words!
