Reading plays a very big part in the curriculum of a first grader. In my classroom I enjoy teaching reading to my students! I love seeing the enthusiasm they show when they are able to read independently. In my classroom my first graders not only work in small guided reading groups with me, but also work independently at workstations that are set up in my classroom. My classroom library is one of the workstations that students attend. The rug will provide a soft area for the students to sit on and read. The small sofa will provide another option for the students. Both of these items will not only provide opportunities for independent reading, but also reading with another student. Thus, this will enhance reading skills, comprehension, and enjoyment!
