Where and when did you learn to read? Was it while snuggling with a good book at the end of the day, or sitting at a desk in a classroom sounding out words? I have been teaching reading to 5-7 year olds going on 23 years. I have students at all stages of learning. One major goal in my classroom is for students to fall in love with reading and books, even when it's challenging. With a nice quiet "Reading Nook and Cranny," students will be automatically drawn to go and sit and relax with a good book. Students spend about 8 hours a day in the classroom. I take time each year to decorate and organize my classroom to create an inviting atmosphere. My desire is to make it a place they enjoy spending time in and can't wait to come back to!
