It is often said that pictures are worth a thousand words. If we believe that, then my students I teach at the local Afterschool Program have a lot to say. Photography/Videography is an extremely powerful medium that allows my students to investigate their world through pictures. In order to do so, my students from my Afterschool program need 3-5 more cameras and accessories. My students are passionate and hardworking. They choose to take Photography/Videography because they love a challenge. They want to express to others how they see the world and want to share their opinions about important issues. They are visual thinkers who want to know more about the medium, photography and how they can best use it to make their voices heard. Our school is a comprehensive public Middle School located in the Bronx whose funding has seen a huge reduction in recent years due to budget cuts at the local and state level. Even though the money isn't there, my students still want to take Photography/Videography during the program and do their best to share our limited resources.
