So many of my students are in difficult situations, whether it be financially, emotionally, or both. It is very difficult to focus on the task at hand with an empty belly or daily hygiene issues , which is why I try to always have healthy snacks and hygiene supplies on hand. Being hangry or uncomfortable is no way to have to go through the day. We do a lot of AVID and hands-on activities to help bring science to life. Students and families struggle every year to get much needed daily supplies such as spiral notebook, markers, pencils and glue. My goal is to give every student the same opportunity. It is embarrassing for kids to say that they can't afford the supplies and I love that my students know that they can come to me if they need something! With so many hands-on activities, it is easy for the students to loose track of time. I incorporate timers when possible, but the timers we have access to are not always available or reliable. The large digital wall clock/remote timer will be a great asset that will allow students to quickly see how much time they have, from any point in my classroom. I have seen how much this impacts the classroom and can't wait to use it in my classroom! Thank you so very much for taking the time and money to fund a project!
