To help my senior students maintain interest for the entire school year, I have this plan for a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen unit. Students will read books about the characters from the movie in literature circles. (These books are also of literary merit and can be used on the Advanced Placement test.) Their focus will be on character development by the author. After they have taken the AP exam, we will complete a film study using the movie. They will focus on comparing how the author portrayed the characters and how the director portrayed them in the movie. Students being able to read these classic novels will not only benefit them on the AP exam but give them a fun and interesting way to end the school year. Sadly, students can not afford to purchase these books for themselves and school resources are limited. This project will help my students finish the year strong while preparing them for the AP exam and college.
