My students will gain an appreciation for math and its history, storytelling, reading, and how they can apply their skills and talents across subjects and aspects of life. "The Number Devil" turns explorations of famous mathematicians, such as Pascal, Euclid, and Fibonacci, as well as treatments of basic topics, such as positive and negative numbers, primes, and proofs, into a relate-able, fun, community-building adventure. Reading "The Number Devil" as a child only made my love for both math and reading grow, and I believe my own students will have the same experience. Books like this one can bring excitement about math and reading to light and stoke students' intellectual curiosity.
