Our students need toys in the classroom to play with! We need basic supplies to get the classroom up and running. Our curriculum is play-based and we need toys to help develop our children's social, language and cognitive skills.
Early intervention is critical for children with disabilities, particularly students on the Autism Spectrum. For many of our students, this is their first experience with formal schooling. They require explicit instruction for almost every skill. Play is one of these critical skills that we want to support. This is why we need quality play objects. Our students' have specific deficits in terms of using objects as props, using toys symbolically and using toys socially and cooperatively. The toys I have requested will specifically target these social and symbolic play skills. I have also requested a pop-up tent set for our kids to play with when they cannot go outside due to weather. These items will greatly improve the quality of our classroom and will be shared among other preschool and intellectual disability classrooms in the school! Thank you!
Please support these developmentally-delayed students' early intervention and learning!
