I work with students who need additional support in reaching grade-level standards and goals. I pull small groups in first and second grade and work on specific reading (phonics) skills to help them meet their goals. The magnetic letters and boards will allow students to manipulate their own words rather than watching me or only having access to the one set in my classroom. Research has shown the benefit of having each student manipulate letters/ letter sounds, and I want to provide that hands-on experience to my students. The Lakeshore materials are quality materials that will withstand being used with six groups of students (or more) each day. The phonics games will be used to provide additional support and interest for students that I work with. If they are not working with me directly, they can work on practicing and applying the skills that they have been learning. The games are engaging, and I know that students will benefit from the additional individual practice.
