EMDR training helps me go to the source of maladaptive behaviors in my students. Many individuals operate from places of hurt and it affects every area of life. When children are traumatized, have upsetting experiences, or repeated failures, they lose a sense of control over their lives. EMDR is research proven and has shown to end symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and even substance abuse. These are issues I deal with on an everyday basis and would love to be trained on this extremely effective technique. As a school counselor, I often see students who are currently experiencing trauma in their home, or have experienced it in their past. They often do not have the support or skills they need to navigate through these difficult times. I often see unhealthy coping patterns in my students. After this training, I will be able to do focused work with individual students and groups of students so they can cope in a healthy way and be able to move forward and grow personally during their high school years.
