I teach enthusiastic, curious 2nd graders in East Harlem who are all about their screen time until they dive into a world of play with their peers in our hands-on, minds-on games, building toys, and activities! When you ask a child about their favorite activity, it almost always revolves around a screen--video games, tablet apps, video streaming, and television. Part of being a 21st century learner is working cooperatively, asking questions and puzzling through stuck points. We are working hard to put toys and games back in kids' hands that inspire creativity, collaboration, and fun as well as providing opportunities for them to apply and deepen their academic learning. Please help me increase screen-free learning and continue tapping into their sense of wonder and excitement that we see every time "Choice Time" is on our daily schedule and woven throughout our day. Your help today helps students for years to come!!
