My students have the opportunity to compete in Oregon Battle of the Books, but to do so, they need to read 16 specific books. Our school library is only able to purchase a couple of copies of each title for the over 70 students in our school who participate in this event. With access to these books in the classroom as well, the students will have more opportunities to read them, enjoy them, and succeed. Some of these books are part of a series, that can encourage my students in a lifelong love of reading. As my students explore a variety of great books from different genres, they learn more about themselves and the world. They are able to connect with characters in stories to encourage a love of reading.
