The majority of my students are experiencing delays in language and processing due to lack of exposure. As a result, they are unable to word find or make connections like their typically developing peers. Their attention spans are shorter than usual which makes it challenging to keep their interest. Resources and money are limited in school and in their homes. So, asking for money to help finance a creative project is not likely to be honored. I have used my own resources and money to help with the creative spark needed in my classroom, but it taps into an already strapped for cash budget. I am single mother with a daughter to support and raise on my own. Sometimes I feel guilty for taking from what could benefit her, but I still make the sacrifice.
