I have my students use composition notebooks in Social Studies class. The strategy behind the composition notebook is called interactive notebooks. With interactive notebooks, students put the material presented in class on the left page and interact with the material on the right page. Examples of interaction would be diagrams, flip charts, thinking maps, and written reflections. I teach close to 200 students and many of them come to school with the minimum supplies because it is financially difficult to purchase school supplies. You can help by providing students with the supplies needed, and giving them a great start to the new school year!
