Reading is a receptive skill that is necessary for life's success. One of my responsibilities as a Student Engagement Coach is engaging with students and parents. During the first semester, I found that most of my 3rd and 4th graders can not read and/or have limited ability to read. Since my time is limited with the students, I would like to revamp this second semester by utilizing "Hooked on Phonics" as a means to assist all my students in learning to read and improve their reading. You will not be productive in society if you can not read and comprehend. It is important for not just my students, but their parents to understand that education goes hand in hand with academics, attendance and especially their behavior. Keeping students engaged in school works. We all have to do our part.
