We are quite fortunate to have a technologically advanced classroom, with Chromebooks and a touch screen enabled teacher board, but we are lacking the more basic elements of pen and paper application that are so essential to comprehension and retention. I am a teacher setting up a brand new classroom with zero supplies, so I will use these funds to purchase the items that will best set my students up for success. For organizational purposes, essential in a course as detail oriented as US History, I will purchase a binder and dividers for each of my students. So many students struggle to make sense of bigger ideas because they get overwhelmed with the amount of information thrown at them. It is my hope that these binders will keep us all on the same page and ensure that my students can use their notes and classwork intentionally to draw broader conclusions about the American history that we study.
