As students start two new units with Next Generation Science Standards, they will be moving throughout the classroom and collaborating on activities. Having flexible seating and the ability to have movement in their activity station will allow them to still focus and in small and whole group activities. Everyone learns in a different way and I need to honor students who just need to be able to do their own thing but be attentive to what is going on in the classroom. As for science lab supplies, our hot plates are old but good. One hot plate broke last year and being down a station with a hot plate will increase student ratios in groups. This will reduce interactions with our activities.
