First graders are full of wonder and curiosity. They learn best through play. Puppets will allow children to explore stories. The kitchen will help children learn fractions. Magnet tiles will be a great way to teach shapes. What children need to learn in first grade is not a choice, but how they learn the material can be. When children are playing they feel safe to explore and take risks. They will incorporate math, reading and writing into their play. Imagination is essential in the 21st century. There is no better place to develop and deepen a child's imagination than with play. They also will learn to be flexible thinkers and develop their social skills.
