I will be working with a diverse group of third graders with a variety of learning needs. One way to help them focus is to offer flexible seating instead of sitting in a 'regular' chair all day. Students tend to be more engaged when they have a choice on how they will learn each day. Offering different seating lets them try out a variety of options to decide what works best for them to learn. Giving them a sense of ownership over their education. Included in my wish list are options for leg movement in chairs, alternative seating at tables, lap desks for floor or standing work, and some fidgets for hand held use in aiding in focus during instruction or work time.
