Throughout the school day students make behavior choices (for better or worse). Learning to identify and regulate those behavior choices is a tough job. A job that not all kids can do on their own; my students need to be taught how to identify and regulate those behaviors choices. Students will be able to identify their current turbulent emotional state and be taught ways to self-regulate. The general idea would be to have a student enter the self-regulation room (with a trained adult), identify their current emotional state, discover which activities will help foster self-regulation, allow a choice of activity, self-check their emotional state, and finally return to their educational activity ready to learn.
