Students will get the opportunity to get outside and into the field to perform real science. They will learn real techniques for biological field sampling that scientists currently use to perform such studies all across the world. The students will be engaged in catching monarch butterflies and learning how to tag them. This will not only contribute to the conservation of the species but we will be able to use the data of the monarchs caught and manipulate it for different studies. Students will get hands on experience in different conservation based field studies that will translate into their future careers, community endeavors, and understanding of the natural world. Students will also have the chance to see raise and observe caterpillars metamorphize in monarch butterflies, tag and release them.
