I want to provide opportunities for students to move while learning through flexible seating. Flexible seating encourages different learning styles and gives students opportunities to explore which way they learn best. Research has shown that students learn best when they have some control over their environment. Giving students a choice in how they learn will promote active engagement and optimize learning. I am also promoting movement while learning. Through flexible seating, students can choose to stand up, use a wobble stool, sit on the floor, or use a seat cushion. Students will be able to wobble, fidget, bounce, kneel, twist, stand, and move as needed. Students will feel empowered by their opportunity to choose how they learn and will be more engaged.
