A lot of research backs up the benefits of flexible seating in classrooms. I want to empower my students by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating will allow my students to choose where they work and with whom. It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed. I believe it will promote community, creativity and collaboration. It will also allow them to work in partnerships during our reader’s and writer’s workshop. Flexible seating is believed to a cause a more active, engaged, enthusiastic, and relaxed room of students. I believe the outcome will be worth the effort and the investment.
