It has been proven that when children have access to learning outdoors, it can pay dividends in academic performance! It also improves their concentration and confidence; so many mental health benefits! Don't you feel better when you can work outside?
What I'd like to do, since I have been given the unique opportunity to have my new classroom right outside of a lovely shady wooded area, is to take my kiddos outside (weather permitting) for certain lessons so that they can learn outside in fresh air and away from the fluorescent lighting for awhile. I am on the opposite side of the playground, so no distractions.
There are also so many secondary teaching opportunities that come with being able to teach outdoors besides the typical academia you would teach : environmental science, humanities, gardening, the list truly goes on and on. I think the students would benefit endlessly from an opportunity like this and I'd be thrilled to have some resources to be able to provide this opportunity to the kiddos.
These yoga mats for the kiddos to sit on can pull double duty for yoga in the classroom and are easily washable!
