Mastering reading comprehension skills are essential for all students, especially as they near their freshman year of high school. Our 8th grade team needs hands-on curriculum material and anchor charts. Notice and Note give students 6 easy anchor standards to assist them in identifying literature skills such as plot, theme, main idea, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. Notice and Note introduces 6 signposts that alert readers to significant moments in a work of literature and encourages them to read closely. This helps create attentive readers who look closely at a text, interpret it responsibly and rigorously, and reflect on what it means to them. Your donation will fund three 8th grade language arts teachers. These materials will include hands-on anchor charts (flip chart picture frames) and 36 practice strategy reading books (children's books to help identify Notice and Note signposts).
