This is my very first year teaching and my classroom did not come with many books for my classroom library. Having a variety of books to choose from is so important for students. My students have a vast interest and varied reading levels. I want to have a variety of books in our classroom library so that they have choices all year long. Giving the gift to choose a book they are interested in, also gives them the gift of learning. Most of my students do the majority of their reading at school. I want them to fall so in love with their book that it becomes something they want to do, not just something they have to do. When a child's reading improves, all other areas improve as well. If we can get children to fall in love with reading, then all the things will fall into place.
