The AVID Elective builds a family of peers that will work together to learn the skills they will need to be successful at school, college, and life. They will need everything from agenda planners to keep track of assignments, to highlighters for Cornell Notes, to a giant binder to keep it all in. Middle school students often feel like they are facing insurmountable challenges alone, both academically and emotionally; we aim to change that. They will make their own tie dye T-shirts to bring their own unique style to the table, but their shirts will them be printed with an AVID team logo that they design, to bring the team together. They will play team-building games that make them think differently and talk to each other.
