My students are predominantly immigrant ESL students who are faced with the challenges of learning about the U.S. culture while maintaining their own heritage. They live in subsidized housing and attend a Title One school within the District of Columbia Metro area. Most of them qualify for free and reduced lunch based on their very low income status. They have come to the United States for a better life and have much to offer each other in terms of support and comradery. Yet, they have so much to share and so much to offer one another -- if only they had the opportunity to do so on a daily basis and receive timely and appropriate feedback to their sharing.

About my class
