Have you ever wondered what would have happened if the outcome of a given historical event had been different? What if the Axis had won World War II? The novel Wolf by Wolf presents just this scenario. Readers are transported to a world in which Hitler remains in power and a new resistance movement seeks to remove him. Students will join the the main character, Yael, as she seeks to fulfill her mission. In reading an alternate history, with a splash of science fiction, students find themselves engaging with the Holocaust in a completely different manner than before. My students will read this novel paired with other texts in order to help them think critically about the implications of the Holocaust.
